Setting up a 501(c)(3)

The fee for this is a $600 flat rate for approximately 5 to 6 hours of time (this includes time working directly with our attorney).

In this consultation, Marty works with the client to conceive the concept and purposes, the potential projects to be addressed, the manner of artist affiliation, the assembly of the proper board members, name of organization and a full overview of the organizational imperative.

The fee also includes the e-version of my book “Straight Ahead – A Comprehensive Guide to the Business of Jazz (Without Sacrificing Dignity or Artistic Integrity),” which contains a full chapter on the non-profit corporation with 89 Q/As covering all aspects of the entity.

The consultation does not include the attorney’s fee or any filing fees. The attorney we use for this is Leonard Easter, one of the foremost non-profit attorneys in the country.  At present, his fee is $1,500 but he reduces that by $250 for our clients because he knows that they are fully prepared for incorporation and it diminishes his workload in the process.

State filing fees tend to range between $150-250 and the federal filing fee at this time can be as little as $250.

"Dispelling the Myths About Nonprofits" is a two-part video where Marty breaks down the non-profit structure for practical use in higher pursuits in artistry and creativity. With reference to the relevant chapter in his book "Straight Ahead...", he offers a straightforward rebuttal to all the reasons you may have been given not to use this ideal business structure.
